Zimbabwe has achieved a significant economic milestone, with annual inflation falling to
single digits for the first time in over thirty years. According to the latest figures released by
ZimStat, yearonyear inflation declined to 4.1%, down from 15% at the end of 2025.
This development marks a major achievement for the Bank, whose core mandate is to
safeguard price stability across the economy. The return to singledigit inflation underscores
the substantial gains made through the Bank’s prudent and disciplined monetary policy
measures.
The progress also reflects the positive impact of the Bank’s Back-to-Basics strategic thrust,
which has anchored efforts to strengthen monetary policy implementation, enhance
transparency, and restore public confidence.
In a statement, the RBZ Board of Directors congratulated the Governor and the entire RBZ
team for reaching this historic milestone. The Board further encouraged the Bank’s
leadership and staff to remain focused and committed to consolidating and sustaining these
gains.
