Deputy Governor Dr. I. Matshe Opens World Bank’s Market Conduct Supervision Training Programme

The Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), Dr. Innocent Matshe,
officially opened the Market Conduct Supervision Capacity Building Programme, which is
being facilitated by the World Bank.
The training programme, taking place from 3 to 5 June 2026 at the Bronte Hotel, aims to
strengthen consumer protection and enhance market conduct supervisory capacity across
Zimbabwe’s financial sector.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Matshe underscored the critical role of effective market conduct
supervision in fostering trust and confidence in financial services. He emphasised that fair
treatment of consumers is essential for promoting financial stability and supporting
sustainable financial sector development.

The Deputy Governor also commended the strong collaboration between the Reserve Bank of
Zimbabwe and the World Bank, noting that this partnership continues to play a vital role in
advancing financial inclusion and strengthening consumer protection frameworks in the
country.
Participants at the training include representatives from key institutions such as the RBZ, the
Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECZim), the Insurance and Pensions
Commission (IPEC), the Deposit Protection Corporation (DPC), and the Ministry of Women
Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development.
