Key Functions of the Reserve Bank

The chief mandate of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) as defined in Section 6 of the Reserve Bank Act [Chapter 22:15], is the maintenance of price stability, the formulation and execution of monetary policy and the fostering of a stable financial system.

Exchange Control

The Bank regulates cross-border financial transactions to ensure compliance with regulations and safeguard financial integrity.

Payments & Settlements

The Reserve Bank oversees Zimbabwe’s National Payment System to ensure secure and reliable clearing and settlement.

Statistics

The Bank compiles and publishes key monetary, financial, and economic statistics to promote transparency.

Banknotes & Coins

Issues and manages Zimbabwe’s legal tender, ensuring currency security and maintaining public confidence.
